Big news--the Hodge has returned...

I'm setting up this blog as a way of being able to keep everyone updated on my progress. As most of you who stumble across this blog know, I just found out today that I have relapsed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

I was originally diagnosed with Stage IIA Nodular Schlerosing Hodgkin's Lymphoma on April 18th, 2006. After participating in a clinical trial, consisting of six months of AVG chemotherapy, I enjoyed six months of remission bliss before starting to notice the swelling of the lymphnode on the right side of my neck. I freaked and went to my six month check-up a month early...nothing showed up on the CT scan, so I made the decision to go on with my life, knowing that relapse could happen, but I wasn't going to let the fear of it run my life.

I just celebrated my 35th birthday on Saturday, and had my 9 month check up and scan on the following Monday...needless to say, everything went downhill from there. Enlarged nodes showed up on my scan, so a biopsy was scheduled for the following day. I just got the call tonight that the Hodge is back, so now I am facing a stem cell transplant procedure. As of this moment, my oncologist wants me in Omaha on Monday morning to have my port re-inserted, with my new chemo regimine follow on Tuesday. My plan was to get a tattoo first...so I guess we will see who is more stubborn!! More news to follow as soon as I know anything.

Love,
Skye

Hey Skye!!! You crack me up, you've got this blog up and running fast!!! I was actually going to surprise you and have it done for you by tomorrow, but when I checked if chemocranky was available for you, it wasn't, so I searched and found that you had successfully created your blog!! I'm so proud of you! And of course, if you need anything, please let me know. I can't come clean your bathroom, but I could send you stuff, or whatever you need, I can also just listen to you vent. You tell me, and I'll try and help!! :)

The blog looks great. I hate that you're having to go through this but you'll find it a lot easier to update people just once as you go through this next phase of "fun."

Hey Hey Skye,
Congrats on getting the blog up and running so quickly. It's just a bummer that you've needed to do it. I've found mine a great place to vent and get things off my chest.
Good luck with the upcoming "procedure". I'm a coward and if I got through it then it should be a breeze for you!
Any help Veronica and I can offer we are more than delighted to provide.

Well I am not sure if you got my last bog as I am not use to these things and it took me 10 minutes to get them to accept my password...I am not up to speed I guess. But i send you love, hold you in prayers and will ask your angels to be there guiding those in charge of your treatments and for you too. I said in my other bolg that my friend Annes little 2yr old niece in San Francisco is having stem cell done on Monday also, so you can think of being buddies in this fight. She is a little fighter for sure and will not give up to this dis ease so you keep fighting too my friend. I love you lots, Nanc

Hey gal. Blog looks great. Hope you're normalizing all this chaos and getting your internal soldiers lined up to kick this blasted thing to the permanent curb. Obviously, there's an army of supporters behind you.

Hi Skye,
Just got your note. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. In fact I think of you most everyday since I last saw you and you said "Boy it is nice to have a bad hair day." You will be saying that again soon. Keep your spirits up because we are all behind you.
Love, Jeanette

Hey big Sis! You really got this BLOG thing up and running in record time. I talked with a lady her at work that went through the exact same treatment. She said that the worst part was the chemo it self, but once all that is over it is smooth sailing. She did say that she had a miserable time and was very sick throughout her chemo treatments. I know you don't want to hear such bad things, but I also know that you need honesty without the sugar coating right now. All of my friends here at the Credit Union, and Claire's babysitter are adding you to their prayer lists. I thought, with my wonderful standing with the lord, it would only be fair to you to get a little back up in the whole prayer department. Douglas and Claire send big kisses (in Claire's case there is even a little tounge involved. Keep you head up, and call eme anytime you just need to get crap off your cest. You never have to be strong for my sake, I have huge shoulders that were meant to catch a lot of tears (no boogers though, keep them to yourself). Anyway, keep you head up, and we will all be thinking about you. Love you!

Skye, My hearts breaks for you and your family. You deserve a break, (that is what my mom said and I agree:) ). I am not kidding when I say this, if you need anything- for me to cook some meals, take the kids for a while, get stuff from the store, take you to an appointment, just to cry or talk to- please remember me. I would love to help you and your family out any way I can.. I really mean it, so do not hesitate. I know how to say no if I can't help.

Well, I would love to get together as soon as you are up to it. We can go to lunch if you have an appetite or just get together and visit or whatever. I don't want to call you and bug you so I will email and call occasionally, so please call me whenever. My prayers and thoughts are always with you. All my love, Steff

Skye,
Prayin' for you! I don't know much ( like nothing) about what all your treatment consists of, but I'll do whatever I can to help....you need a pint of blood? Hey...I have a lot and I'll share! Need to vent? I'll listen.
You're in my thoughts....
